Jury selection begins today in Blair County Court for the upcoming murder trial of Paul Ross, the man accused in the 2004 death of 26-year-old Tina Miller of Hollidaysburg. If a jury is seated this week, Ross’ trial will then begin on April 12th. It’s been a long road that began back on June 26, 2004. That’s the day Miller’s body was found in the waters of Canoe Creek State Park. When her body was discovered, her arms and mouth were duct taped and her body showed signs of physical and sexual assault. Ross was arrested that day after police turned up evidence that he and Miller had been at the park together in the hours before her body was discovered. A 2005 trial resulted in a first degree murder conviction for Ross… along with a sentence of life behind bars. But both were vacated in 2011 when a new trial was ordered based on a review of 2005 trial preparations and proceedings, which resulted in the Superior Court accepting the argument that Ross’ defense attorney didn’t have enough time to prepare for trial.
