Former Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge suffered a stroke on Wednesday morning, according to a statement from his family. Ridge’s family said through his Twitter account that the 75-year-old was transferred to a Washington, D.C. hospital from his Maryland residence. The statement said that Ridge was conscious upon arrival and that he underwent surgery to remove a blood clot. He is reported in “critical but stable” condition.
