Since your “Homegrown Rocker” show host did a few days of vacation this past week in the Lancaster area, this week’s “Local Song of the Week” will spotlight a popular musician and band project from that area…Andy Mowatt is a guitarist and bandleader, and his latest project is Andy Mowatt’s Frequency Movement (AMFM for short). AMFM’s latest album is called “Symphonic Funk Box,” and a few tracks on the mostly-instrumental album merge symphonic strings with funk and jazz arrangements. This number, “Mainline,” displays that fusion. AMFM recently won the “Best Funk/Groove Band” award at July’s Central Pennsylvania Music Awards (CPMA’s) presentation in Harrisburg. Besides AMFM, Andy also currently serves as guitarist for Max Impact – the US Air Force Band’s premier rock band in Washington, DC. (And if you think you saw Andy before, he performed a few years ago at the annual Bedford Fall Foliage Festival!) If you enjoy this number, make sure to listen to the “Homegrown Rocker” on Sunday, September 5 for the “Instruments Do the Talking” Special, where every track played will be an instrumental from the local and regional music scene – and AMFM will be a part of it!
