After slamming into the Louisiana coast with winds of around 150 miles per hour, and leaving much of Louisiana and Mississippi without power, now former Hurricane Ida is heading our way. The storm is slowly plodding north at about 8 miles per hour, and it is packing a lot of rain. Forecasters say here in Blair County and surrounding areas, we need to prepare for potential flash floods because we could see heavy rains…. very heavy rains that could dump 4 to 6 inches of rain with some areas seeing even more when Ida crosses over central Pennsylvania this evening and into Wednesday, and then continue to dump rain into Thursday morning, with the heaviest rain expected Wednesday into Wednesday night. As the ground is already saturated from all the recent rainfall, everyone is warned to be on the lookout for localized flooding. The good news though, is that after Ida passes we should start to feel some relief from the humidity, as cooler air arrives by the end of the week.
