B.E. Taylor – “Feel the Love of Christmas”

Since we’re still in the holiday season frame of mind, this week’s “Local Song of the Week” will celebrate the Christmas season legacy of Pittsburgh great B.E. Taylor. William Edward “B.E.” Taylor rose to prominence in the 1970s and 80s, first in the Pittsburgh area and then nationally with his self-named B.E. Taylor Group, scoring a 1983 Hot 100 hit with “Vitamin L.” In the 1990s, he began to record Christmas albums, and endeared himself to fans across western PA, West Virginia and Ohio with his annual B.E. Taylor Christmas Tour. His original holiday song “Feel the Love of Christmas” first appeared on the 2000 album “B.E. Taylor Christmas 2.” This live performance of the song happened at the 2011 “Old Fashioned Christmas in the Woods” in Columbiana, Ohio., and shows B.E. joined by longtime bandmate Rick Witkowski and Jeff Jimerson. B.E. Taylor sadly passed away on August 7, 2016 from an inoperable brain tumor. But his musical legacy lives on, especially during the holiday season in western Pennsylvania.
