On this day in 1974 was the biggest hit for the singer/songwriter nicknamed “The Storyteller.” Tom T. Hall initially was a radio DJ after being discharged from the Army. He also was a songwriter and wrote “Harper Valley PTA” which became a number one hit for Jeannie C. Riley in 1968. The song also won both a Grammy and a CMA award. It was after that song that Tom T. Hall’s own singing career took off with 35 studio albums, 50 singles and 7 number one country hits. On this day in 1974, Tom T. Hall was at #1 for 2 weeks with his 4th number one, “I Love.”
