TWO WATER PROJECTS IN BLAIR COUNTY HAVE RECEIVED A HEALTHY SHARE OF MONEY FROM HARRISBURG.
IN A REPORT BY WTAJ, THE STATE HAS ANNOUNCED THAT BLAIR COUNTY WILL RECEIVE SOME $11 MILLION FOR TWO PROJECTS AIMED AT IMPROVING WATER SERVICE. $8.7 MILLION IS GOING TO NORTHERN BLAIR COUNTY REGIONAL SEWER AUTHORITY FOR A PROJECT THAT WILL IMPACT SOME 3200 RESIDENTS. THE REMAINING $2.4 MILLION WILL GO TO THE CURRYVILLE WATER AUTHORITY FOR WORK ON REPLACING THE WATER SYSTEM THERE WHICH SUFFERED DECADES OF DAMAGE FROM AGRICULTUERAL ACTIVITY AND NITRATE RUNOFF ACCORDING TO THE REPORT. THE MONEY COMES FROM THE PENNVEST FUND IN HARRISBURG, A FUND DEDICATED TO IMPROVING WATER SYSTEMS ACROSS PENNSYLVANIA.
