A COUPLE FROM ALTOONA IS FACING CHARGES OF SETTING FIRE TO A CITY HOUSE LAST YEAR.
THE ALTOONA MIRROR REPORTS THAT POLICE HAVE CHARGED 26 YEAR OLD DANIEL SIPES AND 30 YEAR OLD MARIA FRYE WITH SETTING FIRE TO A HOUSE ON THE 2000 BLOCK OF 5th AVENUE BACK ON OCTOBER 14th. A CITY PATROLMAN NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE BACK OF THE RESIDENCE AND CALLED FOR FIREFIGHTERS. IT TOOK THEM AN HOUR TO BRING THE FIRE UNDER CONTROL. THE PARTOL OFFICER HAD LED THE CHARGE TO RESCUE 6 RESIDENTS FROM THE HOUSE, WHO MAY HAVE DIED IF IT WERE NOT FOR THE ACTIONS OF THAT CITY POLICE PATROLMAN. SIPES AND FRYE ARE CHARGED WITH 65 FELONY COUNTS RELATED TO THE FIRE, THE MOST SERIOUS BEING ATTEMPTED HOMICIDE. THEY WERE DENIED BAIL.
