ANOTHER CHAPTER IN THE ONGOING FIGHT OVER WHO SHOULD GET MAIL IN BALLOTS WAS PLAYED OUT ON FRIDAY.
A REPORT BY WJAC STATES THAT THE STATE COMMONWEALTH COURT PANEL OF JUDGES RULED THAT PENNSYLVANIA’S 2 YEAR OLD MAIL IN VOTING LAW IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL, AND NOW AWAITS A PROBABLE APPEAL FROM GOV WOLF. THE RULING WENT ALONG PARTY LINES, 3-2 REPUBLICAN ON THE BENCH, AND NOW THROWS VOTING LAWS IN PA INTO TURMOIL LESS THAN 4 MONTHS FROM THE SPRING PRIMARY. THE RULING WAS MADE ON THE FACT THAT NO EXCUSE MAIL IN VOTING IS STRICLTY PROHIBITED UNDER THE STATE CONSTITUTION. THIS COMES IN A YEAR WHEN PA RESIDENTS ARE ABOUT TO ELECT A NEW GOVERNOR AND A U.S. SENATOR. IN THE 2020 ELECTION MORE THAN 1/3 OF PA VOTES CAME FROM MAIL IN BALLOTS OUT OF 6.9 MILLION THAT WERE CAST.
