Legends of Number One for Valentine’s Day. February 14th, 2022
On this day in 1976, an American stage actor, singer, advertising executive, and television writer and executive who enjoyed 15 minutes of fame as a novelty recording artist in the 1970s had his one and only number one hit. Thanks to the wave in popularity of citizen’s band radio, he released a song about a truck driver victimized by a Georgia highway patrolman’s speed trap. He recorded as Cledus Maggard & the Citizen’s Band and on February 14th, 1976 the number one Country song was “The White Knight.”
