THE ALTOONA MIRROR REPORTS THAT THE CITY HAS COME TO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE OWNERS OF THE FORMER McCRORY BUILDING THAT THE CITY WILL TAKE OVER OWNERSHIP, AND WILL DO THE WORK NECESSARY TO MAKE THE BUILDING VIABLE IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA. THE REPORT STATES THAT THE CITY PAID THE OWNERS $112,000 FOR THE BUILDING. THE NOW FORMER OWNER WISHED THE CITY GOOD LUCK IN TRYING TO REPAIR THE BUILDING,WHICH HAS SIGNIFICANT ROOFING PROBLEMS, AND INSIDE HAS WATER ISSUES TO DEAL WITH. THE CITY TOOK THE PROPERTY BY EMINENT DOMAIN. THE CITY WILL NOW SEARCH OUT A POTENTIAL DEVELOPER TO WORK ON RESTORING THE BUILDING.
