A WJAC REPORT INDICATES THAT OFICIALS AT WESTMONT DISCOVERED AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENT, IN THE 5th GRADE, ALLEGEDLY WROTE DOWN A THREATENING AND CONCERNING STATEMENT IN A JOURNAL. THE STUDENT WAS IMMEDIATELY TAKEN OUT OF CLASS, AND WEST HILLS POLICE WERE SUMMONED. DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT THOMAS MITCHELL SAID THAT THE STATEMENT WAS NOT A GENUINE THREAT, BUT RATHER AN ACT OF FRUSTRATION. MITCHELL SAYS THAT THE DISTRICT WILL TAKE ALL MATTERS LIKE THIS ONE VERY SERIOUSLY, AND AT THE SAME TIME EDUCATE STUDENTS TO ALWAYS REPORT SOMETHING, ESPECIALLY IF THEY DON’T UNDERSTAND THE SITUATION.
