St. Patrick’s Day is still two weeks away, but McGarvey’s is getting a jump on the Irish-flavored musical merriment on Saturday night as they host the return of Chicago-based Celtic punk-rocking favorites The Tossers, headlining a four-band bill. Formed in 1993 by singer and mandolinist T. Duggins as he started playing traditional Irish folk music and pub favorites at pubs in the south side of Chicago, The Tossers evolved their energetic style and sound, earning the nickname of “The World’s Loudest Folk Band.” The Tossers have toured with such names as the Dropkick Murphys, Reverend Horton Heat, Flogging Molly, Clutch and Mastodon; and opened for the Pogues in New York City in 2007. The group has steadily issued albums, EP’s and singles; their latest album is 2017’s “Smash the Windows.” Also on the bill will be New Jersey-based garage punk rockers Crazy & the Brains, Pittsburgh’s Celtic-rocking favorites The Bastard Bearded Irishmen, and local Celtic rock favorites Full Kilt. The doors open at 6 p.m. Advance tickets are available through Friday for $17 per person; tickets are $22 on Saturday.
