We get bluesy for this week’s “Local Song of the Week” as we spotlight Williamsport-based blues artist Gabe Stillman and his band, performing his original tune “Gimme Some Time” at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis, Tennessee during the final round of the 2019 International Blues Challenge. Singing and playing guitar, Gabe first formed his band in 2015 after graduating from Boston’s Berklee College of Music. He and his band gained quick acclaim with his debut EP “The Grind” in 2018, before advancing all the way to the final 8 in the 2019 International Blues Challenge; Gabe received the esteemed Gibson Guitar Award during that event as well. On his next release, “Flying High,” Gabe was backed by legendary Washington, D.C. performers The Nighthawks. Gabe then released his latest full-length album, “Just Say the Word,” in 2021. Gabe performed at the 2019 Happy Valley Music Fest in State College, and already has a busy touring schedule in 2022, which includes shows up and down the East Coast and the Midwest, a return to this year’s International Blues Challenge in Memphis in May, and even a trip to Europe to play a blues festival in Denmark in late August! Listen for tunes off Gabe’s latest album on Q94’s “Homegrown Rocker” in the weeks and months ahead!
