Blair Sheriff Fights For Better Wages

In A Report By WTAJ, Sheriff Jim Ott And Some Of His Deputies Spoke Out Yesterday At The Weekly County Commissioners Meeting. Both Present And Future Wages Are Creating A Constant Turnover And Low Recruitment Problem For The Office, And Sheriff Ott Says Wages Need To Be Adjusted To Help Keep Deputies On The Job. The Remarks Came Before The Commissioners Voted On A Contract Agreement That Included The Deputies. The Commissioners Voted To Accept The Agreement. Commissioner Bruce Erb Commented On The Agreement That Gives The Deputies A 12% Raise After The First Year, And 17% Over 3 Years. Erb Said That Is A Fair And Generous Agreement. Sheriff Ott Says That His Office Is One Of The Lowest Paid Among 5th Class Sheriff Offices In Pennsylvania.
