The Altoona Mirror reported over the weekend that PSU Altoona has announced that it will phase out 6 current academic programs in an effort to trim its budget. The move is part of a system wide effort of Penn State to trim all school budgets, mainly due continued declining enrollments. Along with the cancellation of these programs, 8 faculty members will also have their contracts terminated. Programs targeted for removal include political science, integrative arts, mathematics, science, associate degree program in science and minors in math and dance. PSU chancellor Lori Bechtel-Wherry said that the programs being cut are the ones with the lowest enrollments over the course of time.
