A CapitolWire reports suggests that the senate state government committee heard testimony this week considering the issue of independent voters casting ballots for party candidates in state primary elections. Those in favor said so because independent voters also pay taxes that help with the costs associated with primary elections. They can vote on ballot questions, but not for republican or democratic candidates vying for ballot positions in November. One state Senator, Democrat Chris Dush opposed the idea saying that the independent vote on party nominations would be paramount to sports teams deciding on how other teams draft potential players for their teams. Gov (veto) wolf did not comment on what he would do if the bill reached his desk.
