News reports indicate that the accident occurred on Carneys Crossing road in Washington Twp shortly before 9:30. Authorities say the driver of the car, 66 year old Diana Lynn Hoover of Ebensburg was crossing the train tracks on the road when her car was hit by a Norfolk Southern train. Hoover apparently was caught on the tracks in between the flashing crossing arms, and tried to back up when she was struck. The Cambria County Coroners office was called to the scene, where Hoover was pronounced dead. Officials have ruled Hoover’s death as accidental. The investigation is continuing.
