The Altoona Mirror reports that the protesters were rallying against proposed budget cuts that Penn State main campus has ordered in an effort to trim costs. Many of the protesters were from the arts program including Dance, Music and Theatre which many fear will be in the cross hairs of cuts. Other programs targeted include political science, associate degree science, minor programs of math and dance. Chancellor Lori Bechtel-Wherry said these programs have all had enrollment numbers go down. Some 12 people spoke to the crowd, voicing their opposition to the cuts. Penn state has ordered $4.7 million budget cuts over the next 2 years.
