Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the April 17 edition of “The Homegrown Rocker,” which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock!
New music again returned to the spotlight for this week’s program, as we heard music from lots of new recordings that have arrived from the local and regional music scene in recent weeks! Making their debut were new songs from Blood Union, Randall Pink, Nick Stahlman, Alexia Christian, Steve Treado, Cass & the Bailouot Crew, Mike Williamson, Inside Out, Jeff Wendle, Glasswing, The Redlines, Nail Bite and 9Sundays! In addition, we updated “Local Music News” and stepped “Across State Lines” to hear a song by New Jersey’s Crazy & the Brains…And we presented two “Local Music Flashback” features this week – in the first hour paying homage to area musician Mike Clapper (who passed on April 12) with a 2008 song by Mike and Kun-Tajus; and during the second hour, featuring a 1978 live concert track from Pittsburgh greats Diamond Reo as we reviewed the album Diamond Reo Live at the Redeye ’78 album in “The Professor’s CD Corner!” (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94’s website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on “The Professor’s Classroom,” and then scroll down to “Homegrown Rocker Podcast” and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 041722.)

Lewistown area hard rockers Mindspell have a new drummer, as Jamie Lane takes over behind the kit.
And the area music scene mourned the unexpected passing of Michael Clapper on Tuesday. He was 71. From Bedford, Michael was a singer, songwriter and guitarist, and was a member of several bands through the years, including Kun-Tajus and Borrowed Time. Mike was the brother of Jeff Clapper of Felix & the Hurricanes, and also the father of singer Sarah Mellott.
