The senator told channel 6 that he wants stronger background checks for individuals wishing to purchase weapons and he wants to ban all military style weapons from being sold. Sen. Casey said that America will not surrender to gun violence since we are a strong nation that has endured numerous wars, fought diseases and has taken on terrorism. Casey said that this week, the senate has the opportunity to debate a bi=partisan bill now making its way through congress. The NRA responded to Casey’s comments by stating from the constitution that the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. Casey also stated that its time for the senate to come together.
