The Altoona Mirror is reporting that the Airport authority has voted in favor of picking up an agreement with Contour Airlines for jet service. Airport manager Tracy Plessinger says that this service will provide more comport and faster flying time for passengers. Contour has proposed service with jets that could hold up to 30 passengers. The U.S. Dept of Transportation must approve the agreement, but the story indicates that it should not have any opposition. If approved, the new planes would replace older and much smaller commuter planes which held only 8 passengers at a time. Currently boutique airlines is handling flights out of the airport. Plessinger says the authority is satisfied with boutiques service, but this new agreement will be far better for travelers.
