Television news reports indicate that two people who attended the Thunder in the Valley rally in Johnstown were involved in the accident on the Rt. 56 bypass in Richland Twp. Saturday afternoon around 4:20. Cambria County coroner Jeff Lees reported that Mark McCleaf of Shippensburg was heading home with his wife, when he lost control when he failed to negotiate a curve on a turn to get onto rt. 219 . McCleaf and his wife were both thrown from the bike and both were taken to a hospital where McCleaf succumbed to his injuries a half hour later. Lees said that the couple was not wearing helmets and the death has been ruled as accidental.
