Television news reports indicate police arrested 23 year old Julia Capparulo of New Jersey as the person who broke of the lion’s ear, and smeared on red paint. Police say that Capparulo may have been caught on video camera as as the person who vandalized the statue on May 8th. She is also accused of spray painting the letters “FTG” on the doors of the Hintz Alumni Center. Police found a backpack that Capparulo was hiding near another building to help stage her crimes. She apparently told police she claimed to be a victim of an assault on campus and was protesting the lack of help she allegedly did not receive. Damage to the lion and other sites comes to more than $26,000. Capparulo is to be arraigned today.
