Reports indicate that employees called off sick on Monday in protest of low pay and benefits, and they want the county commissioners to do something about it now. Commissioner David Glass publicly asked the employees to remember their responsibilities and to continue to perform their duties while talks continue. Problem is, is that the commissioners say that unions representing workers refuse to talk. Glass says he wants to sit down and come to an agreement with workers. Glass acknowledged that workers are paid a very ow wage at the county level, but also that county resources are limited and that raising taxes to support giving higher wages is not a viable option at this time.
