A report by WTAJ says that the school board there has adopted its 22-23 school year budget for nearly $35 million, with a tax increase. The report indicates that the board passed a 4.1% increase in property taxes for the new year ahead. The budget has only a $93,000 difference between expenditures and revenues, and the deficit will be made up with money from the districts general fund balance. According to a district source, the extra money will go for the students learning experience. Philipsburg joins the growing list of area districts that have raised taxes. 6 of 7 districts in Blair County along with Chestnut Ridge, Brookville, West Branch and Punxsutawney have all raised property taxes for next school year.
