WTAJ reports that the airport announced it will switch over to Contour Airlines beginning October 1st. Airport Manager Tracy Plessinger said yesterday the move will now put Blair County in a league with much larger airports in terms of more passenger delivery with jet service. The airport will now feature 30 passenger jet aircraft, as opposed to the much smaller commuter planes now offered by its current carrier Boutique Airlines. Altoona-Blair County will offer flights to Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Baltimore. The move will also give better connections with American Airlines. Plessinger says there will be a smooth transition to contour airlines, with no delays or shutdown in service at the airport.
