After last weeks overturning of the sizzling abortion rights issue of Roe v Wade, the court ruled yesterday that the state of Maine will allow parents of school students to receive subsidies to give their children a private school education. In Pennsylvania, this subject has become a hot button issue for those who say that money should be made available for school choice, and those who say taking money away from public education for school choice will further damage public schools. 30th district state senator Judy Ward of Blair County said that the public school system is failing and they are not accountable for all of the millions of dollars handed to them for quality education. Ward said that school choice will only help students, while empowering parents. Candidates for governor are also on opposite sides of this issue.
