The Associated Press is reporting that 27 year old Alyssa Ortman and her daughter both of Clearfield were killed after they were involved in a traffic accident that involved a member of the Wisconsin State Senate last Friday. 70 year old Janet Bewley was the driver of the second car involved in that crash. According to the police report, Bewley pulled out into oncoming traffic and collided with Ortman’s car near a lake superior beach entrance. After the initial collision, Ortman’s car apparently spun out of control and was hit by another vehicle. Her daughter was killed at the scene, while Ortman died a few hours later at a hospital. Senator Bewley was not injured, and Wisconsin state police are investigating.
