Channel 6 reported that the 9 students and faculty members were in Kentucky on a community service trip, when heavy rains caused major flash flooding. The group had to be rescued and were eventually bussed back to Pennsylvania. Cellphone service had been lost due to the flooding, but one person who had an international cellphone, did manage to call for help, and the group was rescued by national guardsmen. The report did not state what project the group was helping out with. They were expected home over night.
