Former St. College officer charged in Johnstown

WJAC reports that officer Joseph Scharf has been charged with assaulting a driver following a traffic stop in Johnstown back on March 29th. The reports states that officer Scharf pulled over a man identified as Shannon Greene and ran a background check. Scharf found out that green had an outstanding warrant against him. Scharf said that he tried to arrest Greene, but he resisted and the two men fought. Greene after his arrest, filed a federal lawsuit claiming his civil rights were violated, and that he was choked to near unconsciousness. Greene says he has video proof of the attack. The lawsuit is for $1.2 million against the city of Johnstown, the Police Dept, officer Greene, a second officer and a bystander who allegedly witnessed the confrontation.
