A report in the Altoona Mirror indicates that Bedford County D.A. Leslie Childers-Potts asked the AG’s office to take on 36 current cases, because of low staffing issues. Jacklin Rhodes of the AG’s office said that the office will accept and handle the 36 cases referred. Cases involving rape and homicide have been referred along with other serious cases. Judge Travis Livengood was a bit upset over the move, saying that he was not informed of Potts decision to refer the cases out of county. Some defense attorneys are also unhappy about the move, stating that this will prolong their clients prison stays, through no fault of their own. Two such cases involve homicide with Blair County residents as defendants.
