New figure for unpaid turnpike tolls

A television news report from Harrisburg indicated that the audit from the auditor generals office reported that the turnpike has $155 million still in unpaid tools for the past year. That number is up significantly from the end of last year, when it was reported that $104 million worth of tolls went uncollected. One state lawmaker says that the problem exists from non Pennsylvania drivers going through the state and not paying the tolls. There have been 2 bills introduced in Harrisburg to try and collect tolls from state residents who have outstanding bills. The problems began when the turnpike began using a cashless toll collection, which cost hundreds of toll booth workers their jobs.
