Just as we do from time to time on Q94’s local music program, the “Homegrown Rocker,” we’re going to step “Across State Lines” for this week’s “Local Song of the Week,” and spotlight a group that just played in the Altoona area on Friday night, September 30 – Binghamton, New York-based Americana artists Driftwood! Driftwood was in town to headline the “Corks & Hops” fundraiser at the Casino at Lakemont Park, which raised money for the Mountain Lion BackPack program, which provides elementary school children in the Altoona area food for the weekends when other resources may not be available to them. Formed in 2005, Driftwood blends traditional Americana flavors with elements of rock’n’roll, improvisation and more. This live version of “Lemonade” was performed during July, 2022 at the 30th annual Finger Lakes Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance in Trumansburg, New York (northwest of Ithaca). Driftwood also roused the Corks & Hops crowd with this number. Also performing at Corks & Hops were Cumberland, Maryland’s Jigglebilly and western Maryland/northern Virginia progressive bluegrass artists The Plate Scrapers.
