According to a report by WTAJ, City Council last night voted to approve contract to tear down seven homes in the city. Mayor Matt Pacifico says that council will help with improving neighborhoods by tearing down these blighted properties, which are not just eyesores. Mayor Pacifico says that these rundown properties can be dangerous to neighborhoods and are public safety hazards. The city will pay G&R excavating of Tyrone $72,000 to bring down the houses. The money will come from the city’s community development block grant fund for the blighted property program.
