Here is a listing of area live music and online music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, October 28 through Thursday, November 3.
‘Twas the weekend before Halloween, and all through the lands, lots of Halloween parties featuring lots of bands.
As you will see when you browse the listings below, many of the shows taking place this weekend are billed as Halloween-themed events. And it’s likely that many of the ones not listed as Halloween shows will also celebrating the wearing of costumes and Halloween-related fun as well.
McGarvey’s will host two Halloween parties with completely different musical flavors. Friday night’s event will feature local soul, funk hip-hop and acoustic rock favorites The Pennsoulvanians, while Saturday night’s event will showcase two heavy metal tribute acts – Harrisburg-based Pantera tribute specialists Penntera, and the debut of Altoona-based Type O Negative tribute Dead Again, featuring members of previous local rockers Small Town Horror Show. The Saturday show will also host “Trick or Feed,” which raises food collection and funds for the Altoona Food Bank. Anybody bringing along a food item to the event will be entered into drawings for Type O Negative’s re-issued 1992 “Origin of the Feces” album. Both the Friday and Saturday shows begin at 9 p.m.
