We bring a little bit of humor into this week’s “Local Song of the Week!” If you have listened to Q94 Classic Rock’s “Homegrown Rocker” during the past few months, you may have heard this novelty tune crafted by area musicians and songwriters Denny Pompa (also a member of the Lightner Communications broadcast family) and Bill Dann…”Wings Of Fire” (by “Hal Apeno & the Ghost Peppers”) is a tribute to those brave souls whose preferred mode of chicken wing consumption is nuclear – the folks who throw digestive system, tongue and olefactory cautions to the wind to enjoy the hottest hot wings, those which require signing a waiver to enjoy! The video features Denny and Ken Pompa (area acoustic duo Denny & Ken), also Bill Anderson on trumpets, and Ed Kuhstos as the nuclear wing-consuming daredevil. The video was filmed at the Bull Pen Restaurant and Sports Bar in Tyrone. Also making a cameo during the video are special edition “Wings Of Fire” T-shirts, with artwork courtesy of a local ballpoint pen-sketching “Professor!” Enjoy!
