The fossil fuel industry is a major employer in Pennyslvania. West Va. Senator Joe Manchin, a close to moderate democrat, called those remarks by Biden offensive and disgusting, and said that he owes coal workers across the country an apology. While speaking in Latrobe, former President Trump said that Bidens remarks were an attack on coal, and has resumed his war against coal. The white house said that Biden’s remarks were twisted to suggest a meaning that was not intended.
