News reports indicate that voter turnout was stronger than normal, because of the high stakes offices that were up for grabs. Bedford county had a 67% turnout of registered voters, while Blair county saw 60% of voters turn out on Tuesday and used mail in ballots as well. The last mid term election had Blair county at 57% in 2018, while Bedford county had 60% for that same midterm election. Blair county board of elections chairperson Deb Baughman said that the high number of mail in ballots helped drive the voter turnout up this year.
