In a report by “The Hill” Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said that his office remains confident that the loan forgiveness will go through and is legal. Cardona said that e-mails were being sent out beginning on saturday to applicants who have already been approved for up to $20,000 of forgiveness. Federal courts have put a halt to the program for the time being, stating that President Biden has no legal or constitutional authority to institute such a program. Republicans say that they will continue to fight to stop the program from going into effect. The U.S. Supreme Court may get one of those challenges on its calendar, thanks to an appeal by the dept of justice.
