
Television news reports indicate that the Johnstown-Cambria County airport authority has given the green light to an expansion project for the John Murtha Regional Airport. The expansion is scheduled to take place on a 130 acre plot of land now known as the Mid Atlantic Opportuinty Park. Plans are to develop a regional stop for mechanical issues for corporate planes, a maintainence and repair facility and to increase airport capabilities. The reports indicated that this expansion will bring hundreds of new jobs to Cambria County, and to make it a multimodal destination for the northeast part of the country. The project is expected to be complete in the fall of 2024.
