The Associated Press reports that Republicans in Harrisburg have already filed paperwork to have the special elections held in May, when the primary election will be held. Bryan Cutler’s Democratic opponent in the house Joanna McClinton has also filed paperwork to hold the special elections on February 7th. All 3 vacant seats are located in heavy democratic Allegheny county, and both sides needed victories with these seats to gain control of the house. A lawsuit was filed last week by republicans asking for an injunction blocking the February 7th date for the special elections. The rub of the story is that if the elections are held in may, those folks living in those districts would be living the first 4 months of the year without representation.
