According to a report by WTAJ, a new 3 year contract agreement has been reached between the SEIU and UPMC for significant wage increases, and for improved recruiting opportunities for the hospital. The first year of the new agreement will provide an 8% increase in wages, and will continue with increases in the second and third year of the contract. Also, starting wages for nurses will increase to $28/hour for nurses who do not have a BSN degree and to $29.50/hour for those who do. The contract must be ratified by the union, and that vote is scheduled for tomorrow. Both sides in this issue say it is a win win for everybody.
