The Altoona Mirror reports that the nurses union ratified the new deal yesterday, and will give nurses a raise for each of the three years involved. They will get an 8% raise in the first year, 3% in the second year and 2.75% for the third year. Even though both sides say they are happy with the deal, according to the report, it still puts these nurses in a pay grade that is still below the average wage for nurses from other Central PA hospitals. There are incentives for nurses who choose to work night shifts, and nurses say this deal will create better working conditions at the hospital.
