Television news reports suggest that Blair County Rep. Jim Gregory made a startling nomination for Democrat Mark Rozzi to become the next speaker of the house. Gregory defended his move, saying it would put a speaker in place, and lawmakers then could get to work on the business of the people of Pennsylvania. Gregory also said this move would be good for both sides of the aisle. Referring to his work with Rozzi on the issue of helping child sex abuse victims of clergy to get justice. Gregory believes that through this work, Rozzi and the Democrats would be willing to work with republicans in the house to get bills passed. Then after all of that, Rozzi announced that he was planning on switching his affiliation to independent status, but as of last night, had not done so.
