News reports indicate that Casey was in State College to check out the construction of the new Centre Volunteers in Medicine clinic. The project was made possible by a $1.125 million grantS from the federal government thanks to Senator Casey. The new clinic will be designed to take care of Centre County residents who are low income, under insured or uninsured. The clinic will provide free primary care along with dental care. This construction is an addition to the existing clinic, and will be ready for business in the springtime. It is estimated that there are between 10,000 and 12,000 people without medical insurance in Centre County.
