WJAC reports that the board has tabled a discussion on a proposed policy that would allow only non prominent inconspicuous displays of political, sociopolitical or religious viewpoints. Hollidaysburg education association president Mike Rawlins told channel 6 that the district does not need a policy that will bring law suits, and says that the proposed policy will hurt students. Rawlins said that the issue does not need to be rushed through any process and will likely be continued to be discussed at the next school board policy committee meeting January 25th.The Issue came to light after a teacher was admonished for bringing the controversial book entitled “Gender Queer” into a classroom.
