Coroner Patty Ross, who has served for more than 3 decades in Blair County announced her retirement last night in Hollidaysburg. And at the same time, her chief deputy coroner Ray Benton announced that he will run for coroner. Benton is both a nurse and former police officer, and he says that will suit him well to be coroner. Ross herself, is also a nurse and she said she is glad to have served in that capacity. Ross said she will retire at the end of the calendar year, when her term expires.
