Details are sketchy this morning, but city police say the accident occurred on the 200 block of 17th street around 10:45 Friday night. The report indicates that the pedestrian was struck while inside the crosswalk. The victim was struck and died as the result of multiple serious injuries. Police says the victim was a 38 year old man, and no information about the driver was released. Altoona police along with the state police accident reconstruction team responded to the scene. The investigation will continue. Identities were being withheld pending notification of family members.
