Scammers are working across Central PA posing as utility workers showing up at homes telling residents they need to see their utility bills, mainly electric bills. State police say the scammers are working in pairs, one distracts you at the front door, while another thief enters your home through another door to rob you. Police and utility officials urge residents to never allow any unannounced people to enter your home, never show them any of your utility bills, and talk to them through locked doors. If this happens, simply close your door and call police, and always check for proper credentials and call the company to verify. Most companies will notify you if workers are going to appear at your home.
